DIY - Bath Salts

Calming - Soothing - Relaxing
Bath, Salt
Relax by taking a warm bath with some Dead Sea salt. Photo provided by WIX.

What's better than relaxing in a bath after a long day of running around? Nothing, absolutely nothing. I could never understand why my dad would prefer falling asleep and rotting away in the bath until years later. As a kid, I just wanted to take bubble baths every night and play till the water was cold, my lips blue, and my mom chased me out.

Today I have a different opinion. I have finally learned that taking a bath after a long day, with a cup of coffee, can hit the spot just right. When you want to spoil yourself you can add some bath salts and scented candles.

For the longest time, I always believed that bath salts were just another way for people to make money and grownups to have baths without bubbles, which is completely boring. I have since found out that bath salts have actual benefits. Shocking right?

I visited my dear friend Zaskia to find out more about her startup, Faithful Creations. Feel free to go read my blog about my visit. I would always recommend her and the products that she makes. It is good quality and made with love.

She took me through the steps of making some amazing bath salts. It was a really fun and easy DIY project to make, so I decided to share that with you today, with her permission of course.

It is the perfect gift for a friend. Perhaps for their birthday, Christmas, or just something to spoil them with after working hard. This DIY will stop your search for a gift.

Sea-Salt Bath benefits

Sea salts have natural minerals in them such as magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron, and potassium. We, as humans, need these minerals and what better way to get them than through a bath?

One of the top benefits of Dead Sea bath salts is that they help relieve muscle aches and increase overall skin health.

How to use

Run a warm bath a degree or two warmer than your body temperature. Add 1/4 cup of bath salts to a normal-size full bathtub. Sit back, enjoy, and soak for 15-20 min (Or you can just fall asleep and wake up when the water has turned cold like I tend to do).

Cappuccino Rating

I rate this project one cup of cappuccino. It is a very straightforward rewarding project. Please find out more about my rating system here.

What you will need

  • 300g Dead Sea coarse salt

  • Scale

  • Mixing bowl

  • Essential oil of your liking.

There are a variety of different essential oils on the market. I would suggest reading up on it before buying some. They have tremendous health benefits that I can personally attest to. Some of my most used oils are lavender, mint, and lemon. The biggest contribution that they have is to relaxation.

Young Living is one of my favourite brands when it comes to essential oils. Their products are 100% pure oil and the quality is undeniably the best I have ever found. Please check out their website about the products they have available.
